St. Joseph’s Secondary School was established in 1993 with the pioneering vision of Mrs. Beula Gabriel who has more than 45 years of experience in school education. The vision for St. Joseph’s School was simple: provide children with excellent education, and at the same time, create a school environment that brought together children from all walks of life – from the richest to the most needy, from highly educated families to first-time school goers.

After receiving government recognition (from the Andhra Pradesh government, and now from the Telangana government), the school was established with a particular model: to enable every student who joins, to achieve his or her highest potential. How does this work?

The SJSS model rests on the belief that all children have the right to an excellent education to give them the opportunity to achieve their potential. This means that unlike most schools, who administer an entrance test to determine whether or not a student gains admission to the school, our admissions test is not an “entrance exam” to admit or or reject a child. Instead we assess a student’s potential and place them in the appropriate class. No student is ever turned away for failing an entrance test.

Following this assessment, students are placed at the appropriate level, and teachers work to meet their needs – whether academic, physical or social.

We also place a high value on social, and extracurricular activities, such as sports, theatre, music, dance, and more, so that children utilize their many talents, gain confidence, and As a result, today, almost twenty-five years since the founding of the school students achieve consistently excellent results. On average, more than 90% of students graduate from tenth class with first-class results in the state’s common Educational Board exams. Moreover, many students have gone on to have successful careers, in fields as diverse as accounting, engineering, finance, human resources, medicine, teaching, and more.
